A junior is defined as anyone who has not turned 18 by 1st April of the playing year.

Membership Waiting List Policy

Oakdale Golf Club maintains a structured membership waiting list to ensure fairness, transparency, and the strategic growth of the club.

This list helps manage the high demand for memberships and supports the development of a vibrant, financially sustainable, and competitively strong golfing community.

Why We Have a Scoring System

To allocate places fairly and in line with our club’s priorities, we assess applicants using a scoring framework. The scoring system helps the club to:

– Maintain demographic balance

– Prioritise long-term value to the club

– Support junior and family engagement

– Encourage diversity, community participation, and team contribution

We aim to build a membership base that balances:

– Age Diversity: A healthy mix of juniors, working-age members, and retirees supports long-term sustainability and a vibrant club culture.

– Gender Representation: While golf has historically been male-dominated, we actively encourage female participation at all levels and strive for inclusive representation across sections.

– Local Community Links: Members living locally are more likely to use club facilities regularly and support events and competitions.

– Family Engagement: Multi-member households deepen club loyalty and increase use of services such as coaching, the clubhouse, and pro shop.

– Competitive Strength: Members who play regularly and represent the club help sustain strong men’s, women’s, and junior sections.

– Financial Sustainability Considerations: To safeguard the club’s future, we also consider an applicant’s prior use of additional services (coaching, hospitality, retail)

The waiting list scoring system ensures we:

– Admit members who add value both on and off the course

– Protect and grow key sections (juniors, teams, volunteers)

– Support competitive ambitions without neglecting the social golfer

Commitment to Fairness & Equality

All applicants are assessed using the same scoring framework, which is reviewed in an annual basis. We comply fully with the Equality Act 2010 and England Golf’s diversity and inclusion standards. We do not discriminate based on any single protected characteristic.

Communication and Transparency

– Applicants may request feedback on their status.

– The club reserves a small number of discretionary places for exceptional circumstances, the club also reserves the right to decline membership with board approval.

Our approach ensures Oakdale remains a club of choice for golfers of all ages and abilities. By managing our waiting list with purpose, we invest in a future that reflects our values, strengthens our community, and protects the integrity and success of our club for generations to come.

Members may book any available slot – whether or not in members’ time – up to 4 weeks in advance.

Members can book 28 days in advance

Members only times:

Weekday:     Dawn – 09.30

Weekend:     All Day

Visitors may book up to 7 days in advance. (visitors are not allowed on a weekend)

Visiting Parties may be booked (by membership) at any time.
